Developer Ronto Group has hired architect Steve Smyers to redesign the Aerie course at the Twin Eagles club in Naples, Florida.

Ronto acquired Twin Eagles after the two course community was closed down last year by the previous owner, the troubled developer Bonita Bay Group. Aerie was originally designed by Gary Player’s firm, and opened in 2007.

Smyers, along with his associate Patrick Andrews, are redesigning and reconstructing the Aerie course in preparation for a reopening in the autumn of 2011. The other course at Twin Eagles, Talon, was designed by Jack Nicklaus’s firm.

The Twin Eagles club covers more than 1,100 acres near the south-west Florida city of Naples.
