British firm Swan Golf Designs is working with Gerrards Cross Golf Club, located to the north west of London, on a project aimed at improving the club’s par 69, 6,243 yard course.

Founded in 1922, the Gerrards Cross course is set in the historic Chalfont Park in the Chiltern hills. Many of the holes winding their way along the Misbourne valley.

Working alongside course manager Lee Robinson, SGD’s William Swan has overseen the implementation of new bunker strategies for the sixteenth and seventeenth holes, with construction carried out in house. After two weeks of shaping and drainage, final prep and turfing is now underway. The new-look holes are scheduled to be in play before the start of summer.

Swan said: “The course at Gerrards Cross has a little bit of everything we look for – variety in hole lengths, several changes in direction, topographical features and a strong landscape context. We are delighted to have the opportunity to refine its challenge, improving aesthetics and playability through the working with the club on the implementation of their long term course development plan.”
