The Cliffs at Mountain Park, a new course designed by Gary Player’s practice, will open on 26 September.

Playing 7,218 yards, the course offers wide fairways and gently contoured greens, and the Player firm says it has been designed to have excellent walkability in a bid to appeal to golfing purists.

The course forms part of the Cliffs, a collection of seven communities spanning from Greenville, South Carolina to Asheville, North Carolina. Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the course lies on the banks of the North Saluda River and features a 12-acre lake which runs along holes eleven and twelve, as well as the river itself being a part of eight of the course’s holes.

“Our purpose with Mountain Park was to create a golf experience that offers a wide range of playing scenarios unique to The Cliffs’ compendium of world-class courses,” said Scott Ferrell, president of Gary Player Design. “Members and guests will see an environmentally friendly landscape, with native grasses incorporated to create a ‘links’
feel. Players of all skill levels will have a wonderful array of shot options, particularly around the greens.”

The new course will be the seventh addition to The Cliffs’ growing golf portfolio.

“The Cliffs provides one of the most extensive golf offerings in the country and Mountain Park is the perfect complement to our diverse portfolio of championship courses,” said Brian Peeples, director of golf for the Cliffs Clubs.
