Garnant Golf Club in north Wales has joined a new programme designed to make it easier for newcomers to learn to play the game.

The New2Golf membership scheme, launched by Golf Development Wales and the PGA, costs £5 and provides new golfers with discounted lesson vouchers, £1m public liability insurance and rules and etiquette reminders.

Membership forms are available from the club for anyone who wants to take up golf and Neil Owen, Garnant's director of golf said: “The recent Ryder Cup was so exciting and dramatic that it has sparked a lot of interest in golf from people who never have played before.

“We welcome golfers new and old to Garnant and we’re participating in the New2Golf programme because it will help give newcomers a better understanding of the game and help them play better and therefore enjoy the game more.”
