Preparatory site work has begun on the new Luštica project in Montenegro, an integrated resort being developed by Swiss/Egyptian firm Orascom.

The resort will be located around Traste Bay in Montenegro on former government owned land. A team of consultants is currently at work on the detailed masterplan.

The first step is the construction of a road to the site, while the detailed urban plan is expected to be ready by 2011. Orascom’s hopes to create and operate an integrated holiday resort with amenities including eight hotels, 1,600 apartments, 750 villas, a downtown area with all the necessary facilities offering shops, schools, medical services, two marinas, water sports opportunities, a conference centre, a Thalasso centre and an 18-hole golf course. The first stage of the project is scheduled to open at the end of 2013.

Land planners EDSA, along with local firm MonteCEP, are leading the development team, along with Greg Norman’s design practice and clubhouse design specialists SB Architects.
