Bobby Weed Golf Design nears completion of Greenacres renovation

The renovation of Greenacres Country Club in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, is approaching completion.

The project, undertaken by Bobby Weed Golf Design, involves the creation of seven new holes, the relocation of the practice area, and comprehensive improvements throughout the entire golf course. The clubhouse is also being upgraded.

The project has been funded by the multimillion dollar sale of a 14-acre infill development parcel that was identified by Bobby Weed Golf Design. A national homebuilder will develop this land with 98 townhouses. Residents of the development will become social members, providing ongoing revenue opportunities for the club.

“The repurposing of Greenacres is an important precedent for any forward-minded club seeking to recapitalise, upgrade its facilities and maintain ownership,” said Chris Monti, senior design associate at Bobby Weed Golf Design.

“Greenacres Country Club will be fully updated and competitive in the marketplace, with newfound capital,” said Bobby Weed, president and CEO of Bobby Weed Golf Design. “The course will be renovated to meet today’s and future member expectations and to provide a fun and interesting round of golf.”

Total Turf Golf Services from Philadelphia is handling golf course construction work and George Ley Company is the irrigation contractor.

Greenacres was established in 1938 and its 18-hole golf course was originally designed by Devereaux Emmet, and redesigned by George Fazio in 1971.

The renovated golf course will open in late spring 2018.
