Nicklaus Design's new course at the Baha Mar resort in the Bahamas is on track for an opening in late 2013, according to Jack Nicklaus, who recently visited the course to review progress.

Nicklaus toured the site – part of a 1,000 acre resort development – with Baha Mar president Tom Dunlap and his senior design associate Chris Cochran. Nicklaus assessed construction progress, provided insights on strategy and playability, and discussed the development schedule with on-site teams.

Baha Mar, a US$3.5 billion project including four hotels, more than 300 homes and the Caribbean's largest casino, is believed to be the biggest resort currently under construction in the western hemisphere. The golf course's front nine holes will offer ocean views and play around several large water hazards, while the back nine has a more inland feel. The course will open in December, while the resort as a whole will make its debut in 2014.
