Spanish construction firm OHL has announced it plans a second golf course as part of its Mayakoba tourism complex in Mexico.

Like Mayakoba’s first course, the new eighteen will be designed by Greg Norman’s practice, with the additional signature of Mexican golfing great Lorena Ochoa, who announced a partnership with the Norman firm late last year. It will be the first course to bear her brand. The partnership is also competing for the right to build the course that will hold the Olympic golf event at the Rio games in 2016.

The new course will be constructed on a 400 hectare inland site, and incorporate housing for workers at the Mayakoba complex. OHL says it intends to invest a further US$1 billion into Mayakoba, on top the similar sum it has already spent.
