Temporary course to be created almost 2,000m up Swiss mountain.
The trend for pop-up bars, restaurants and shops has sparked the creation of the world’s first ever pop-up golf course in Adelboden, Switzerland.
To be known as ‘Golf Mountain’, the pop-up course is currently under construction and will be open for just one month, from 10 September to 10 October. Located on the Engstligenalp, with views over the village of Adelboden, the course sits at 1,964 metres, making it one of the highest golf courses in Europe.
Golfers will have to contend with obstacles such as streams and rocky outcrops – perhaps even cows – as well as swirling mountain winds and extreme weather conditions.
As a pop-up course, the only part that will be classically laid out will be the greens, which are being created using artificial lawn. Golf Mountain will also feature a driving range and a wooden Alpine hut at the heart of the course that has been converted into a clubhouse, complete with pro shop, changing rooms, bar and restaurant.
