Makaha course, designed by Billy Bell Jr, to be renovated.
The golf course at the Makaha resort on Oahu, Hawaii, has been sold by its Canadian owner, Northwynd Resort Properties, and will close to undergo a renovation project in May.
Locally-based firm Hawaiian Golf Properties is the course’s new owner. “Northwynd and Hawaiian Golf Properties share a common vision for the future of the property,” said Northwynd CEO Patrick Fitzsimonds. “They have indicated their intent to renovate the course into a world class facility. In turn, we intend to upgrade the resort to complement the redeveloped golf course. We believe this alliance will allow Makaha to attain its full potential as a premier resort.”
The Makaha golf course, originally designed by Billy Bell Jr, the architect of Torrey Pines, will undergo a temporary closure for the planned renovations from 14 May. The resort’s hotel is also to undergo renovation, but is expected to remain open during the work.
