A project to renovate the Slammer & Squire golf course at the World Golf Village in St Augustine, Florida, has reached completion.

Led by a team from Bobby Weed Golf Design – the firm behind Slammer and Squire’s original design – the recent project focused on the course’s bunkering.

Weed and the project team aimed to enhance the bunkering’s playability and aesthetics, while also easing maintenance requirements. Selected bunkers were also reduced in size to aid visibility.

Contractor MacCurrach Golf carried out the work, which took around six weeks to complete. Additional tasks, including turf work and tree and brush removal, were also carried out.

“I appreciate Bobby Weed’s support, dedication and outstanding work in overseeing this project,” said Bob Barrett, CEO of Honours Golf, which manages the World Golf Village facility. “He took one of his great designs from the late 90s and made it more player and maintenance friendly while improving its aesthetic beauty.”
