A golf course project that has been under consideration for 15 years may be nearing fruition.

The plan to build an eighteen hole course adjacent to the Columbia Gorge Regional Airport, on the border between the US states of Washington and Oregon is close to becoming reality, airport manager Chuck Covert told the Dalles Chronicle newspaper recently.

Arizona-based architect John Fought has been contracted to design the public Sundoon course, which would be built on a pure sand site with natural dune formations.
