A project to extend the course at the Mehta Golf Club in Lugazi, Uganda, has got underway.

David Hemstock, a member of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects, is leading the work, which will see the current nine-hole course extended to create an 18-hole, 6,800 yard course at the club.

The Mehta Golf Club lies in the Jinja region, close to the shores of Lake Victoria and within the Sugar Corporation of Uganda’s headquarters.

The club is situated about two hours east of the country’s capital, Kampala. A new road is being built between the capital and Jinja, and it is hoped this will help boost the number of visitors and golfers to the area.
