New Jersey National Golf Club has been certified through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary programme. The club has been working closely with the programme, a joint venture between Audubon International and the USGA, since 2003.

Certification demonstrates commitment to environmental quality in several areas including planning, wildlife and habitat management, water conservation, chemical use reduction and safety, outreach and education and water quality management.

The club has implemented a variety of programs, highlighted by building and hanging bluebird nesting boxes throughout the Roy Case-designed course, listing wildlife species living on the property and installing wetland conservation signs throughout the property. Additionally, new programmes were implemented to reduce the use of energy, pesticides, fertilisers, gas and labour, ultimately making the property more efficient with its chemical and water output.
