Roadrunner layout built on top of club’s existing Quail Run course.

A new nine-hole, par-3 layout has been introduced at the Rio Verde Community and Country Club in Rio Verde, Arizona.
Measuring 1,088 yards, the Roadrunner course has been built on top of the back nine of the club’s Quail Run course, which was recently redesigned by The Lehman Design Group.
The Roadrunner’s hole lengths range from 92 to 148 yards using regulation tee boxes off the fairway. This helps provide a variety of approach shots to the greens.
The nine-hole course is the brainchild of Rio Verde’s general manager Ken Kelley and head professional Darryl Janisse.
As the Roadrunner is a ‘course within a course’, no additional land was required for its creation. This meant a logical alternative short course concept could be created in a protected desert area, where setting aside acres for development is rarely a viable option.
It is hoped the Roadrunner course will appeal to both experienced players in search of a quick golfing fix, and beginners looking to break into the game.
