Construction of a new nine-hole par-three course – designed by Alan Rijks – at Golfclub Princenbosch in the Netherlands, is nearing completion and is expected to open in September.
The short layout is being built in the area of the old driving range next to the clubhouse. It will be joined by new practice facilities including chipping and bunker areas as well as a putting green.
Rijks has designed six new holes and combined them with three others that were already there. Holes range from 85 to 170 yards, and the greens will feature multiple pin positions. The course will also be lit in the evenings.
“The new course has to be attractive to the elderly members – so they don’t feel it is too long – and it needs to be a nice environment for beginners to learn the game as well as offering the better players a place to practice their short game,” said Rijks.
Construction began in March with seeding starting in June.
The course is expected to open in early September.
