Pinehurst-based architect also redesigns three holes at North Carolina course.

The course at Colonial Country Club in Thomasville, North Carolina, will reopen on 15 August following a renovation and redesign project led by Gleason Golf Design.
The project has seen three holes – 10, 11 and 12 – completely redesigned and new bunkers put in place across the course, which was originally designed by Gene Hamm.
Brand new champion bermudagrass greens have also been installed, and the golf practice facility and chipping area has been expanded.
Architect Mike Gleason of Gleason Golf Design is a long time collaborator with Dan Maples, and the two co-designed the courses at the Birkdale Country Club in Richmond, Virginia, the Willbrook Plantation in Pawley’s Island, South Carolina, and Natanis Country Club in Vasselboro, Maine.
