The official opening of the Quivira Golf Club in Los Cabos on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula has taken place.

Jack Nicklaus, who’s firm was behind the course’s design, attended the event, which marked the completion of a project that saw construction begin back in March 2013.

The 7,139-yard course is the sixth Nicklaus has designed in the Los Cabos area, and he described Quivira Golf Club as ‘one of the great pieces of property in the world.’

All 18 holes feature panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, and the course forms part of a new luxury development.

“We tried to create some excitement on the mountain and in the dunes, and I believe we’ve created a golf course that plays as spectacular as it looks,” Nicklaus said.
