Cabot Revelstoke, a mountain resort in British Columbia, Canada, will open its 18-hole golf course, designed by Rod Whitman of the Whitman, Axland & Cutten (WAC Golf) design firm, for preview play in autumn 2026.

The course is located at the base of Mount Mackenzie, has long-range views of the surrounding peaks and is on a ridge above Columbia River. Whitman’s routing weaves around creeks, cliffs and rock outcrops.

The architect has located the par-four seventh green against a bluff and the following hole, a par three, plays across a gorge, requiring a carry of over 250 yards from the back tee.

In 2021, when clearing had started on the golf course site, Keith Cutten, partner at WAC Golf, said: “So many mountain courses are either on flat land in valley bottoms, with very little interest, or alternatively are on ski hills that are really too steep for good golf. This site is different – it has constant contour but isn’t too severe. The majority of the property is just gently rolling, with some big washes coming off the hillside. Very little will have to be manufactured, and I don’t see us using a lot of dynamite, if any at all – there are rock outcroppings, but nothing that impedes golf.”

Construction of the course is now complete and is growing in ahead of preview play in a few months' time, and before its grand opening in 2027.

“We are thrilled to begin 2026 with strong momentum at Cabot Revelstoke, which is poised to become a basecamp for year-round mountain adventure and connection in one of the world’s most breathtaking settings,” said Ben Cowan-Dewar, CEO and co-founder of Cabot, the developer of the resort. “The scale and beauty of the legendary destination make this one of the most captivating projects we have ever undertaken and an ideal location for Cabot’s first mountain golf and ski experience.”

Construction of a 12-hole par-three layout, The Railyard, is also scheduled to start this year.

The Cabot Revelstoke resort will include a 155-room mountain lodge with spa and wellness facilities, fitness centre and dining venues.

“Revelstoke has long been one of Canada’s most iconic mountain towns, and Cabot Revelstoke reflects an exciting new chapter for the destination,” said Tom Gaglardi, CEO of Northland, parent company of Revelstoke Mountain Resort. “The addition of the golf course, alongside Cabot Revelstoke Mountain Lodge and new homes will attract new visitors while strengthening Revelstoke’s appeal as a destination people return to year after year.”
