Carrick Design is leading a new project at the Bigwin Island Golf Club in Baysville, Canada.

The project will see a series of renovations carried out to the course, with work getting underway this autumn.

The 7,166 yard track at the club, which is located in the province of Ontario and lies about 200km north of Toronto, was originally designed by Carrick Design.

The current project sees the firm return to Bigwin Island with the aim of improving the course’s playability and enhancing enjoyment for club members and guests.

A number of greenside bunkers are being reduced in size and repositioned so they are closer to the green surfaces. This is with the aim of eliminating long, difficult bunker shots.

The floors of every greenside bunker will be raised to help provide better visibility of the greens. New drainage, liners and bunker sand will also be added to the bunkering.

Work is set to be completed in June 2017.
