Christy O’Connor Jnr has been hired for a project at the Moyvalley Hotel & Golf Resort in County Kildare, Ireland, according to reports.

Irish Golf Desk is reporting that O’Connor has been brought in to upgrade and redevelop the course, which lies about 50km west of Dublin.

Darren Clarke’s design team originally designed the course at Moyvalley, and the resort is currently carrying out a strategic review of all its facilities.

“I was really taken aback with my first visit around Moyvalley, I couldn’t believe I hadn’t been introduced to this magnificent venue previously,” said O’Connor. “The golf course has the making of a very fine golf course and it will be a pleasant task for me to bring the course in line with the top golf courses in Ireland.”

The resort has recently struck up a partnership with County Kildare Fáilte and the greater Kildare Tourism network, with the aim of improving the club’s presence and encouraging more visitors to Moyvalley.

Work to upgrade the course will get underway immediately.
