Eighteen-hole layout is part of a $40 million investment into the Michigan facility

Construction is underway on a new golf course, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, at Kingsley Club near Traverse City, Michigan.
The 18-hole layout, which will join the club’s Mike DeVries-designed course, is being built on recently acquired land southeast of the property. Coore and Crenshaw have planned for a layout that has fescue playing surfaces and incorporates native grasses.
The club is run by owner-operator Escalante Golf. “The Escalante team has again given us an opportunity to work with a wonderfully intriguing, gifted site for golf, this time in the state of Michigan, home to some of America’s most acclaimed golf courses,” said Coore. “We are excited about the potential of this highly individualistic site, the Kingsley Club in general and being able to create a course in a state with such a rich golfing history.”
David McDonald, president of Escalante Golf, said: “This is a rare opportunity to create a very special course in a region renowned for superb golf. With this land and Bill and Ben’s expertise, we believe Kingsley Club will soon offer one of the game’s most fun and architecturally compelling 36-hole golf experiences.”

Coore and Crenshaw’s walkable layout will also include a nineteenth ‘bye hole’ that returns to the new clubhouse after the first six holes. The club is aiming to open the course for limited preview play in late 2028, with a full opening planned for 2029.
The new golf course is at the heart of an investment of around $40 million into the facility. Other work includes a new clubhouse that is expected to open in spring 2027.
“This project is about evolution, not change,” said Justin Mack, general manager of Kingsley Club. “We’re committed to honouring what has always made Kingsley unique while thoughtfully investing in its future.”
