The preliminary construction stages for a new golf course at the AKOYA Oxygen development in Dubai, UAE, are now underway.

Designs and plans for the Trump World Golf Club have been finalised by Tiger Woods Design, and real estate developer DAMAC Properties has provided more details on the entire AKOYA Oxygen development.

The new course – Woods’ firm’s first in the region – will be an 18-hole, par-72 course that will play 7,400 yards. The tender for the main construction will be issued shortly.

The first residents will be moving into the villas and townhouses at AKOYA Oxygen in 2017, with the whole development set to be complete before the World Expo is held in Dubai in 2020.

The news that construction is underway coincides with a report from audit and advisory firm KPMG, which indicates that golf courses can increase the valuation of adjacent real estate by as much as 20 per cent compared to similar real estate properties in neighbourhoods with no golf course component.

Once complete, the course will be managed by The Trump Organisation.
