Rodeo Dunes, a new golf destination in Weld County, Colorado, has opened its first course to its founding membership. The Coore & Crenshaw design is the first of potentially six to be built on the 4,000-acre site.

The destination, set in the high plains of Colorado and with views of The Rockies, is the latest venture from Sand Valley co-developer Michael Keiser Jr.

Eleven holes of the Coore & Crenshaw course opened last year for preview play. Now the full 18 is available to founders. “The land is some of the most gifted we’ve ever come across,” said Bill Coore, last year when the course was growing in. “It is truly a very special site, really quite remarkable. Michael Keiser found a great site at Sand Valley, and now he has done it again.”

The course has wide and rolling fairways, blowout-style bunkers and greens with furrowed brows. Some early highlights of the layout include the 317-yard par-four seventeenth (main image), which has a sizeable bunker short-left of the green; and the par-four fourth, which is split by a huge ridge and a deep fairway bunker.

Shaping has already started on the second course – designed by Jim Craig – and an eight-acre putting course, with preview play is expected in 2027.
