Plans are in place for a new golf and country club in County Cork, Ireland. The proposed development is located on the town land estate of Copsetown Abbey, three miles northwest of Mallow.

Jeff Howes Golf Design (JHGD) has been appointed to design and oversee the construction of the proposed development.

The 18-hole, par 72 parkland golf course will measure over 7,000 yards, with a mix of water features, as well as mature oak and beech tree rows. There are plans to develop the existing golf driving range facility into a golf academy, as well as to convert Copsetown Abbey and the outhouses into the golf clubhouse.

Project leaders have announced that the development will aim for environmental sustainability in both course design and buildings. Minimisation of the impact of the development on the natural environment are at the core of the design principles.

Currently in the final stages of planning, the golf course is planned to open in the summer of 2010.
