Cabo Del Sol, a resort community in Los Cabos, Mexico, has appointed Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design to carry out a $15 million renovation of its Desert course, a Tom Weiskopf design from 2001.

The first hole and holes 14-18, located on the south side of the Transpeninsular Highway, will be repurposed for real estate development and new holes at the Cove Club. The remaining 12-hole routing will be in play until early November.

Dana Fry and Jason Straka will design six new holes on land with significant elevation change in the mountain foothills north of the existing course. The pair will also renovate the remaining 12 holes to match the design style of the new holes.

The facility will be renamed Cabo Del Sol Golf Club when the new holes and renovation work is completed by 2024.

“We want the course to be one of the very best in Cabo,” said Erik Evans, Cabo Del Sol’s director of golf.
