The Evolution of Golf Course Design originated from my deep-rooted passion for golf and my career as a golf course architect. First released in 2018, it is with great pleasure that I can announce that the book has been reprinted and will be available for golf course afficionados that missed out on its first run.

When I first began to put pen to paper, one of my first aims was to expand my own knowledge by exploring the nuances of design, capturing how historical, cultural and environmental factors that have influenced the craft of building golf courses. This then led to a goal of creating a comprehensive narrative that educates readers about the artistry and complexity involved in golf course design.

The research for this book was extensive and focused on the historical context of golf course design. I analysed influential courses and delved into the philosophies of key designers, examining how their ideas shaped the profession. This scholarly approach allowed me to present a detailed account of the evolution of course design, integrating various influences and trends that have emerged over the years.

The response to the first edition was overwhelmingly positive. Readers have expressed appreciation for the depth of research and the thorough analysis presented in the book. I believe it resonates with golf course architects and enthusiasts alike because it provides a thoughtful exploration of entire discipline. The recognition from Tony Dear in Links Magazine as one of the ‘15 Great Golf Books of the 21st Century’ has also contributed to its appeal.

This highlights its significance in the field and the desire for a deeper understanding of golf course design. The excitement surrounding the reprint reflects this growing interest among collectors and enthusiasts.
