GOOD READ The Golf Courses of Stanley Thompson

Sean Dudley
By Sean Dudley

Canada's greatest golf architect richly deserves this tribute from the leading lights in his country's golf industry today. Photographer Mike Bell is the driving force here, and his glorious images of courses such as Banff Springs, Jasper Park and Highlands Links would be enough to make any book worth reading.

On top of the images, though, this book contains essays on each of Thompson's courses, by Canadian golf figures from writers Lorne Rubenstein and Robert Thompson, and architects Ian Andrew, Graham Cooke and Doug Carrick.

Many of these authors share a direct connection with the great architect's family tree of designers, and the respect they have for their forebearer is obvious to see. Anyone interested in Canadian golf – or golf architecture in general – should read this book. Photoscape, CDN$85.00 www.photoscape.ca
