Huxley Golf has expanded its international presence with the launch of Huxley Golf China.

The number of golfers in China has risen by 7.5 per cent year-on-year and hosts three annual world tour events.

Businessman Song Tan has been named as Huxley Golf China’s chief executive office, with Chris Huang named as chief administrator.

Based in Shanghai, Huxley Golf China aims to reach the commercial markets in the country, delivering its installed all-weather greens, tees, practice nets, pathways and lawns.

Huxley Golf China also hopes to appeal to the domestic market with its smaller and modular greens and portable practice nets. These can be particularly beneficial in areas where land is at a premium, meaning people without private gardens are able to practice elements of their game at home.

“It’s extremely satisfying to see interest in golf here in China surging and making us one of the biggest emerging markets for the sport,” said Tan. “As a golfer myself, I know that our hot and humid conditions sometimes make it difficult to get out on the course. This is why I firmly believe that Huxley Golf’s premium quality all-weather surfaces will be of huge interest to a wide range of customers, from golf courses, teaching establishments and hotels to people like me who like to practice at home. I find the surfaces extremely realistic with true ball roll and speed characteristics, yet no maintenance is necessary to keep them in excellent condition.”

Huxley Golf has been planning a move into the Chinese market for some time according to the company’s director, Paul Huxley.

“The timing had to be absolutely right and we knew we had to work with a successful and driven business partner to establish our first base in China,” he said. “It’s now quite clear that, with three tour events staged there, the world’s largest golfing complex established at Mission Hills Golf Club, and some really interesting new talent emerging on the global stage, that China, as in so many sports, will soon be a force to be reckoned with when it comes to golf. I am immensely proud that Huxley Golf will play a part in shaping that progress.”
