Loraloma Private Club and Estates, a new golf and residential community near Austin, Texas, has opened its 18-hole course designed by David McLay Kidd of DMK Golf Designs.
“Loraloma represents the very best of Hill Country living, where world-class golf, luxurious residences, and unparalleled amenities come together in harmony with the land,” said Joe Rentfro, managing director of Loraloma. “Partnering with David McLay Kidd to bring this signature course to life was a natural fit, and we’re proud to offer a community that not only celebrates the beauty of Texas but elevates the lifestyle experience for our residents and members.”

The 7,400-yard course has been laid out over 120 acres, with more than half the holes interacting the Pedernales River, and others playing up to elevated ridges, providing panoramic views of the Hill Country and the Balcones Escarpment.
According to a release highlighting some of the holes, the second is one that will set the tone early in the round with its expansive double green. The par-five eighth rises to a dramatic cliff, offering vistas of the Pedernales River and surrounding Hill Country. And the eighteenth is a 590-yard par five that features noticeable elevation changes and a fairway that snakes to a green defended by a single bunker to the left.

“Designing Loraloma’s championship course has been an extraordinary opportunity,” said Kidd. “We aimed for each hole to have its own character while drawing players into the stunning natural landscape. I designed this course to create memorable moments at every turn, whether you’re an experienced golfer or just beginning your journey in the game.”
The course has Stadium Zoysia on the tees and fairways, Zeon Zoysia in the rough and Lazer Zoysia on the greens.

On-course amenities include Tipsy’s Wellhouse near the second tee, where players can enjoy a drink, and a retrofitted 1958 Bambi Airstream between holes nine and ten, which serves as a stylish refreshment stop. In the future, there will be two comfort stations – one with a full restaurant – while a golf house will offer a pro shop, player’s lounge, and a restaurant and bar.
The Loraloma community includes luxury residences and homesites, riverfront offerings, an amenity area and a cliffside clubhouse. The clubhouse has pools, a spa, fitness and wellness facilities, tennis and pickleball courts, dining and a kids club.
