Love Golf Design (LGD) has started a comprehensive renovation of the Links course at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The Links was originally designed by Nicklaus Design to imitate a seaside Scottish links course. LGD’s work, overseen by Davis Love III, Mark Love and Scot Sherman, is to ‘reimagine’ the 18-hole layout, with the trio taking inspiration from American links-style courses designed by Charles Blair Macdonald and Seth Raynor.

“We are honoured to partner with Bear Lakes Country Club on this exciting new chapter,” said Davis Love III. “Our goal is to create a course that feels both rooted in tradition and perfectly suited to its South Florida setting – a course that members will enjoy walking and playing every day.”

Work includes rerouting holes, new greens, bunkers and tees, and replacing the irrigation system. LGD will also expand fairways, introduce more natural shaping and more options and angles. The project will incorporate modern agronomic practices, advanced drainage systems and sustainable design principles.

“This project allows us to design with creativity and purpose,” said Mark Love. “We’re focusing on strategy, variety and memorable green complexes that will stand the test of time.”

Sherman said: “From routing to final detailing, we’re working closely with the club’s leadership to ensure the Links course reflects the vision and character of Bear Lakes while delivering a distinctive and enduring golf experience.”

The course is expected to reopen in November 2026.
