Giant Qatari developer Barwa has launched its latest project, a new golf and residential estate valued at almost US$5 billion.

The Lusail Golf Residential Development will extend to almost four million square metres, of which 31 per cent will be housing, while sports facilities and green areas will account for the rest.

The development is divided into three separate components, Lusail Gharb, Souq Lusail and Lusail Sharq. Lusail Gharb will include the project’s main golf facility, an eighteen hole course designed by Greg Norman’s firm, along with a tennis centre. There will also be a six hole academy course in the Lusail Sharq area of the development, which will also include a retail village and a boutique hotel.

Barwa said the development would be completed by 2018.
