A renovation and redesign project is to commence this week at the City Park Golf Course in Denver, Colorado.

The work, which is set to take around 18 months to complete, is being led by iCon Golf Studio and Hale Irwin Golf Design.

Changes to the layout will be made, and a new clubhouse in the centre of the property will affect the order in which holes are played. The clubhouse was previously in the north-west corner of the site.

While some holes will remain fairly similar to how they were previously, there are some new additions. For example, a new 372-yard par four fourth hole with a dogleg left fairway will be created, while a new 198-yard par three fifth hole is to be built.

New additions on the back nine include the short par three fourteenth hole and the dogleg sixteenth.

A four-hole short course and 300-yard driving range are also being created close to the site of the new clubhouse.

The project will also help to alleviate the threat of flooding in residential areas north of the golf course.
