Marcella Club near Park City, Utah, has appointed King Collins Dormer (KCD) to design a new golf course, Ambush.

The private club community is being developed by Reef Capital Partners (the firm behind Black Desert Resort), Raintree Investment Corporation and Crosslake Partners. The development includes real estate at three locations, two full-length golf courses (its first course, Skyline by Tiger Woods’ TGR Design firm, is already in construction), a short layout by TGR Design, a 65-acre private park, ski facilities and more.

Like Skyline, KCD’s Ambush course is to be built on the Jordanelle Ridge area of the Marcella community. Construction is expected to start this summer, while the Skyline course is approaching completion, with some holes to open this year.

“The site upon which Ambush will be built is one of the most diverse, dramatic and beautiful locations for a golf course we’ve ever seen,” said Rob Collins, partner at KCD. “There are multiple sections of the property, each with their own character. The meandering ridge, which marks the start and finish to the round, is populated by a string of cliff-edge holes with panoramic views, while the middle of the round is characterised by a sublime set of natural golf holes that are nestled into an Aspen-lined valley. Our team is excited and prepared to weave together 18 distinctive, walkable and playable holes across this otherworldly terrain. It is a truly special privilege to have the opportunity to perform this work.”

Jared Lucero, CEO of REEF and developer of Marcella at Deer Valley, said that KCD’s courses “deliver the kind of magic that makes people fall in love with the game all over again. Ambush will be no exception – it’s going to be a place where people remember every round”.

Cody Winterton, division president of Raintree Investment Corporation and developer of Marcella at Jordanelle Ridge, said: “Ambush provides a second flagship course with its own personality, identity and edge. Together, these courses form the core of something truly rare – a complete high-altitude golf and lifestyle community built for generations. With the help of KCD, we are prioritising thoughtful land planning, conservation and open space preservation as part of our commitment to environmental stewardship.”

The two courses will be exclusive to those that have bought real estate in either Marcella at its Deer Valley, Jordanelle Ridge or Main locations, with all 500 golf and ski memberships already sold. The starting price for a homesite in Jordanelle Ridge is $750,000 and in Deer Valley it is $9 million.
