Eighteen-hole layout at private Fort Worth community can stretch beyond 8,000 yards

Maverick Golf & Ranch Club, a private residential community in Fort Worth, Texas, has opened a new 18-hole golf course by Fazio Design.
The 1,100-acre property is already home to luxury amenities, a water park, an expansive complex for racquet sports, a spa and fitness centre, outdoor sports fields and areas for hiking, biking and fishing. There is also a nine-hole par-three course called Pinkerton, created by Fazio Design, that opened in November 2025.
The new championship course has been routed into natural valleys, with the community’s home sites having long-range views across the layout and surrounding property. The layout has wide playing corridors that the club’s release says is to “amplify the scale of the ranch”. More than 3,000 trees have been planted, and formal landscaping has been undertaken to marge the golf with the natural terrain.
Maverick has a SubAir system that serves its 007 bentgrass greens. Bladerunner Farms has supplied Stadium Zoysia for fairways and Zeon Zoysia for rough. The perimeter of the course is framed by native grasses.

“From the back tees, the championship course stretches beyond 8,000 yards, with elevation changes and strategic routing creating demanding tee shots and approach angles throughout the round,” said Tom Fazio. “Smaller, bold green complexes, penal bunkers and distinctive hole designs challenge even the best players, while world-class conditioning and Maverick’s relaxed atmosphere make the experience as enjoyable as it is demanding.”

“Maverick’s golf course is unlike anything else in Texas,” said Michael Meldman, founder and chairman, Discovery Land Company. “It is one of Tom’s true masterpieces. His design strikes the perfect balance between skill and natural beauty, delivering a course that feels both entirely unique and at home in its western heritage. This is more than just a golf course, it’s the heart of a community built for families and designed for legacy and connection.”
The next phase of development at Maverick will be the creation of a 12-hole executive course.
