A new golf course is to open near Da Nang City, Vietnam, later this year.

Set to be the first Luke Donald signature design, Ba Na Hills Golf Club is scheduled to open 1 April.

IMG Golf Course Services was originally brought in to lead the design and construction of the course in 2010, with Donald brought in to assist on the project in 2011.

The course features significant elevation changes and plays a total of 7,850 yards.

Donald, a former world No. 1, commented: “The course is turning out to be a truly outstanding collection of golf holes that should prove to be a wonderful and memorable golf experience. I am particularly grateful for the opportunity to be able to add an important new course to the emerging golf destination in the vibrant Da Nang area.”

“While the earlier courses in the area are mostly along the sandy dunes near the coast, Ba Na Hills will be a very different course in a very different ‘parkland’ mountain setting,” he added. ”The large rolling hills, stunning mountain backdrop, and the adjacent river will provide golfers with a beautiful alternative golf experience that is the ideal complement to the existing courses in the area. This will certainly solidify Da Nang’s reputation as one of the best new golf destinations in Asia.”
