The Ocean Course at Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, Florida, is to be restored by a team from Nicklaus Design.

Work will include the regrassing of all fairways, greens and roughs with Platinum Paspalum, which is renowned for its salt tolerance.

Each of the course’s bunkers, greens and tee boxes will be reconstructed as part of the project.

The Ocean Course is one of two courses at Hammock Beach – the other being the Conservatory Course – and features six holes that lie on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean.

The course has been closed since October due to the weather conditions caused by Hurricane Matthew, with some damage caused. This led to the decision to carry out a complete restoration of the course.

“After numerous expert analyses and recommendations, we determined that a full restoration was best to ensure that The Ocean Course will re-open as one of the finest resort courses in America,” said Terry Bechtold, managing director of Hammock Beach Resort. “Upon completion, we will be able to offer one of the finest grass surfaces on which a golfer can play.”
