Makai Golf Club, located at the St Regis Princeville resort located on the island of Kauai in Hawaii has reopened after an extensive renovation carried out by the Robert Trent Jones II firm.

Originally designed by the same firm in 1971, the course has been renovated as part of a major upgrade of the Princeville Hotel, which reopened as the St Regis Princeville resort last October. The course is managed by Troon Golf.

“I am extremely proud of the renovation we’ve completed with the Makai course, which is located in one of the finest destinations in the world,” said Robert Trent Jones Jr. “By enhancing the design of the course, we have truly created an unforgettable experience that will encourage golfers to come back and enjoy again and again.”

The project included reconfiguring the strategy of greens complexes, reshaping of bunkers; refurbishment of selected cart paths and comfort stations and upgrading the practice facility to include two large practice tees, a practice fairway bunker, eight target greens with bunkers, a teaching tee, and short-game practice complex. Plans for a new clubhouse will be implemented in the next phase.
