Sequoyah National Golf Club in Cherokee, North Carolina, has reopened following a bunker renovation and regrassing project completed under the direction of the Robert Trent Jones II firm.

The project began in March 2020, and has included the installation of Capillary Concrete bunker lining, while the fairways, tees and green surrounds have been converted to Zeon Zoysia turf by Southeastern Golf.

This renovation was to allow for better playing conditions year-round on the layout, which was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, alongside pro golfer Notah Begay III, in 2009.

“We’ve invested in the future of the golf course with these upgrades and we’re very pleased with the finished product,” said Sequoyah National golf board chairman Curtis Wildcat. “With these improvements, we believe Sequoyah National is now the finest public mountain courses in the southeast.”

The course reopened for play in the first week of October.
