Shaping is now complete and grassing is underway on Mike Koprowski’s first solo 18-hole design, for the new public destination club, Candyroot Lodge, in the Carolina Sandhills.

Koprowski, who worked with Kyle Franz on several projects and was a co-designer at Broomsedge in South Carolina, has designed the Candyroot layout to “embrace the natural movement of the land”, with the routing working with the site’s topography, and holes created to reward strategic shot-making and promote the ground game.

Preview play is expected to begin on 28 October 2026. Koprowski has also collaborated with five-time LPGA Tour winner Michelle Wie West on a short course at the 1,210-acre property, which is located just an hour from both Charlotte and Columbia in South Carolina, USA.

Candyroot Lodge, which is being developed by brothers Aaron Oberman and Ethan Oberman, ultimately aims to create up to four courses on the site, alongside lodging and wellness facilities. The project has been masterplanned by Hart Howerton.
