Swan Golf Designs has designed a new 14th green at Nefyn & District Golf Club as part of its ongoing work to improve safety at the course.

The project will see the existing 14th green removed and the new one built slightly further from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s recently constructed Portdinllaen boat house.

Golf architect William Swan says: “The club asked us to make the most of the opportunity by creating a green that will fit better into the unique landscape and provide a greater challenge to golfers. It will be located about ten yards to the left of the existing green, among the outcrop of rocks, and without a bunker.”

Construction work will begin very soon, with the help of the engineers that built the new lifeboat station.

Earlier in 2013, Swan Golf Designs completed a project to provide an alternative 12th green that can be used when conditions make playing to the current green too difficult or unsafe.

The July 2013 issue of Golf Course Architecture included a report on work at Nefyn & District Golf Club
