Steve Forrest of golf architecture firm Hills Forrest Smith has overseen a renovation of the golf course at the private TPC Treviso Bay community in Naples, Florida.

The project, which began in March, has included a renovation all 18 greens on the Arthur Hills-designed course, plus seven practice greens. Three greens have also been repositioned.  All greens have been re-grassed from paspalum to TifEagle, while the collars are now grassed with TifGrand.

Bunkers have been reconstructed with ZLine bunker liners and G-Angle sand. Six were removed from the front nine and seven added to the back nine.

The forward ‘Bay’ tees were reconstructed and landscape and mounding work throughout the course was designed to improve the separation of adjacent holes.

Construction was handled by Ryangolf, while additional drainage and landscaping work was completed by an in-house team.

“This project has been an exciting upgrade to what has always been considered a world class golf experience,” said general manager Scott Bertrand. “The renovation team consisting of members, staff and vendors has been focused since day one on delivering to the membership a project that is completed with the highest of standards, on time and under budget. We are thrilled that despite the challenges of the events of 2020 we were able to exceed the expectations established for this project.”

Chairman of the renovation committee Michael Erdman said: “With Scott’s experience and leadership as our project manager, we had the missing piece to make our plan a reality and take TPC Treviso Bay from a really good course to a truly great challenge. Our members have enthusiastically supported the project and are really excited to get back on the course. Making our course and our club the best experience we possibly could for our members was always our number one goal and we believe we have met the challenge."
