Citing a lack of water resources, the design firms of Ernie Els and Jack Nicklaus have withdrawn from a planned golf course development at Waterberg in South Africa. A statement from Ernie Els reads: "We regret this decision, but obviously there is nothing that we can do about the natural resources available to sustain the golf course component of the development." The disappointment for Els may be shortlived however, as he has since agreed to design four courses for Cape Verde Development on the archipelago of tropical islands. Els will work with PGA Golf Management on the project, which also covers the management and operation of the clubs and related facilities on the islands of Sal and Sao Vicente.
