PGA Tour Design Services and former professional golfer-turned-architect DA Weibring are leading a bunker renovation project at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.

Work on the course, designed by Weibring’s firm and host of the PGA Tour’s John Deere Classic, began on 3 August and is expected to be completed in December 2021.

The goal of the project is to return bunkers to a consistent performance as well as improve their playability, maintenance and look.

Every bunker will have its sand, surrounding grass, liners and drainage removed, before being updated with a new drainage system, Capillary Concrete liners and ProAngle sand.

“We are so fortunate to be associated with John Deere and the PGA Tour,” said TPC Deere Run’s general manager Todd Hajduk. “These partnerships allow for an elevated playing experience and this project speaks to their long-term commitment to our property and the John Deere Classic.”

The course will remain open throughout the project.
