Black course at Tiburón Golf Club reopens following renovation work

The Black course at Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, Florida, has reopened following a project led by Greg Norman Golf Course Design.

The course has undergone extensive work on its greens, turf, irrigation and bunkers. Green surrounds and approaches have also been reworked to present players with more strategic shot options.

These green surrounds were regrassed with Celebration bermudagrass, while the greens themselves now feature TifEagle bermudagrass.

Family tees were also introduced, giving members the chance to play the course at a length of 4,000 yards.

The project was affected by Hurricane Irma in September 2017. Though some damage was caused to the course, the project team’s efforts meant reopening was only a few days behind the original schedule.

The Black course at Tiburón was originally designed by Norman’s firm, and opened in 2001. The course is one of two Norman designs at Tiburón – the other being the Gold course, which opened in 1998.
