Cabot Cliffs course at Cabot Links officially opens for play
Cabot Cliffs, the latest addition to the growing number of courses developed by Mike Keiser, has officially opened for play.
Designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, the new course forms part of Cabot Links, and complements the existing course at the site, which opened in 2011 and was designed by Rod Whitman.
Cabot Links is located near the town of Inverness on Cape Breton Island in the Canadian state of Nova Scotia.
Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore joined Mike Keiser and Ben Cowan-Dewar, the visionary behind Cabot and the resort’s managing partner, for the official opening round.
“It was truly a special day,” said Crenshaw. “Remembering the initial excitement Bill and I felt when we first saw the site, and now, seeing it today as a finished product, it’s just a spectacular feeling. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a prettier sight than this one right here.”
Cowan-Dewar said: “It took a lot of people to get Cabot Cliffs and the resort as a whole to where it is today. The excitement surrounding the course is contagious, and to have two courses in the world top 100 on this magnificent island on the east coast of Canada is surreal.”
The course has been open for preview play over the past year, but with the grand opening, both resort and non-resort guests can play the Cabot Cliffs layout without restriction.
“We are already seeing the immense impact of adding a second course to our resort,” added Cowan-Dewar. “We are running at 97 per cent occupancy for our peak season this year with bookings for 2017 already coming in.”
