Chippenham course improvements to debut next spring
Chippenham Golf Club in Wiltshire, England, has almost finished a substantial redevelopment of its course, which dates back to 1896.
Golf architect Matt Maryon and shaper Mike Smith have built four entirely new holes on the course, as well as combining two existing holes into one new one, and construction a number of new tees.
“Several years of hard work are finally coming to fruition, and the members, committee, and staff can’t wait to see the course open in its completed state in May 2014”, said general manager Leighton Walker. “We’re really excited about the design of the new holes, and a couple of them promise to be particularly memorable.”
Chippenham also opened a new clubhouse ten months ago, and Walker says the redevelopment work is already having a positive effect on the club's finances, with a noticeable growth across membership, green fee revenue, and F&B revenue streams.
