Dana Fry-designed Royal Park I Roveri opens for play

The Dana Fry-designed Royal Park I Roveri Golf Course in Rotta Cerbiatta, Italy, has opened for play.

Fry designed the eighteen hole, par-72 golf course while a partner of the Hurdzan/Fry firm, and has since created Fry/Straka with fellow architect Jason Straka.

Located inside La Mandria, a regional park at the base of the Lanzo Valley, the new course joins an existing Robert Trent Jones Sr-designed eighteen hole course at I Roveri.

“With its majestic mountain backdrops and the quality of the golf holes, I believe in time Royal Park will be considered one of Europe’s best golf courses,” said Fry. “It is particularly special to us in that it was our first course in Europe.”

Located just nine miles from the centre of Turin, the flat and open course plays 7,187 yards from the championship tees. The course also features a number of ponds and creeks, created for drainage and irrigation purposes as well as to add strategy to the layout.
