Desert Mountain prepares to open seventh course
Desert Mountain Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, will open its seventh course – an 18-hole par three layout called ‘No. 7 at Desert Mountain’ – in spring 2019.
The layout has been designed Bill Brownlee and Wendell Pickett, who are both members of Desert Mountain and made their design debut at nearby Wickenburg Ranch. Desert Mountain’s existing six courses, all of which are over 7,000 yards from the back tees, were laid out by Nicklaus Design.
The new No. 7 course has been created to appeal to golfers of all skill levels and will have views of the Greater Phoenix valley and surrounding mountains.
One of the main features on the course is a stream that starts at the front entrance and runs alongside the ninth hole, past the clubhouse and through the eighteenth, seventeenth and sixteenth holes before feeding a large lake on the fifteenth.

Plans indicate that the second and seventh holes will share a large green, and a boomerang-shaped fifteenth green is almost entirely surrounded by bunkering. The tenth green merges into the practice putting green, which will be lit up after dark.
The course will be served by a gastropub clubhouse, with features including collapsible glass walls and outdoor fire pits.
“The concepts behind No. 7 at Desert Mountain are an extension of Desert Mountain’s overall vision,” said Desert Mountain CEO Damon DiOrio. “Not only does No. 7 maintain the high standards of golf we embrace throughout Desert Mountain, it provides even more experiences enabling golfers to reimagine how they play the sport.”
No. 7 will be the focal point for the Seven Desert Mountain luxury residential community of up to 190 custom homes designed by Cullum Homes, Camelot Homes and Family Development, almost all of which sit directly on the golf course. Homeowners at Seven will automatically become members of Desert Mountain Golf Club.
