Enviro-homes for Monterey course

A prototype ‘Enviro-Home’ is to be built at the Enclave at Cypress Grove resort community alongside the Bayonet and Black Horse golf courses on California’s Monterey Peninsula.

The resort has teamed with Palo Alto-based Clarum Homes to build the prototype, which is slated for completion later in 2010.

Clarum says the 2,775 sq ft single-story house, which will overlook Bayonet’s ninth fairway and have views of both the course and the Pacific, will feature earth-friendly construction materials, high-performance insulation, high-efficiency lighting, Energy Star appliances, and electric car charging. Both Bayonet and Black Horse were extensively renovated recently by golf architect Gene Bates.

“Clarum’s sustainable construction practices make it the ideal partner,” said Dick Fitzgerald, project director for owner andoperator Seaside Resort Development.
